About Me

Hello there! My name is The Crusty Engineering Manager, and I've been in the world of computers since I was a young kid. Back then, DOS was the default operating system and I remember spending countless hours on it. I still remember the excitement of first getting onto the internet with a phone modem, and spending hours on AOL. I also remember the thrill of trying to install Linux for the first time.

Right after college, I started my career in software engineering and have been in the business for the past 15 years. During this time, I've had the chance to work in various roles, from software engineer to software engineering manager.

Through all these years, I've seen a lot of things not work out and often felt like a cog in a machine. I've been stepped on for someone else's career advancement. All these experiences have made me realize that there needs to be a better way to take care of ourselves and others, at work and beyond. This is why I'm now sharing my experiences and ideas on how to stop the pain and create a better work environment.
